Residential Assessments

We provide a range of Residential Assessments for families from both Centres. Since opening our centre in Birmingham we are now in a position to offer immediate residential placements for children and their families. We can undertake residential assessments within a range of timescales (4 weeks – up to 12 weeks).

However, taking into account the above, we reserve the right to suspend/terminate the assessment at any stage if it is felt that it is not in the best interests of the child for the placement to continue. Obviously, should such a situation arise, full consultation with the Social Worker and Children’s Guardian would take place, and a decision would be made in conjunction with these professionals.

24-hour Surveillance – of a child within a residential setting

We can provide any level of supervision and monitoring including 24-hour surveillance of a child for high risk cases. We usually provide this service for 4 weeks and if we believe, after this period of time, that supervision levels could not be reduced to a high level of supervision, we would recommend the assessment be terminated. This assessment opportunity gives parents the chance to demonstrate their ability and capability to parent their child. In some cases, where placements are terminated this shortens the period of time in relation to placing the child with permanent alternative carers.
